Philosophy on Life... and Dodgeball?

This past Saturday, the Henry Ford Community College dodgeball team, myself included, traveled to Central Michigan University, looking to play a scrimmage against their dodgeball team. What I came out with was a new way to look at the game of dodgeball. The team was not focused on winning the game, they went out there to play the game and have fun. When we (the HFCC team) started playing this way, the game became fun on its own. We just went out and played the game of dodgeball, not for the win, or for the point, but just playing to play. And after that learning experience, I hope that with future games, we will be able to maintain that mind set, and just go out to have fun. And for that learning experience, I like to thank Central Michigan's dodgeball team.

Now, on the drive home, all I could think about was Central's advice. And, I don't know how, I starting applying to life. I realized that in my life, im being exactly like the HFCC team, just living for the victory, or rather just living for what I want the most. I guess im trying to say that I am not having fun while I live for what I want the most. I have tunnel vision, and I refuse to look past my desired ending. I guess I just never thought about it till now, but its not what I want to do. I want to have fun, and I guess, just like in dodgeball games, I get too heated, and I just forget about what I really am there to do, and that is to have fun.

So hopefully this will be a learning experience for both the HFCC and myself, and I can go into the future with this mindset, but who knows.

Those damn Wolverines!!!

You know, ever since I was a kid I watched MY Michigan Wolverines play football. I remember watching Michigan win the National Championship, and superstars of Tom Brady and Braylon Edwards go through their college carrers playing like theres no tomorrow. I've been through thick and thin with my team, from major losses against USC, and the upset against Appalachin State. Even through all that, I never even questioned the team, or my fanhood. For the first time in my life, I have to begin to question my team and THIER will to play. I watched MY team all year this year, and I have to say im getting way too upset and even think about continuing watching. Currently the Wolverines are at a 3-7 record, with big losses against Toledo, Penn State, and Michigan State. Through out the season, the Wolverines have only defeated Miami of Ohio, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. What really pisses me off is that of the 7 losses, the Wolverines went into half time with the lead or close to it, only to completley blow the game in the second half, and continue their losing ways. I have almost given up hope, but one thing I think saved me and my Michigan fan hood. It was a recent documentry I watched called Michigan vs Ohio State, and it really made me proud to be a Michigan fan after looking at all the tradition and majesty that Michigan Football really is.

So here's to next season, may it bring us a new hope and a National Championship.
